Suriya will next be seen in the lead role in the action fantasy film Karuppu, directed by RJB (RJ Balaji). Since the film has been delayed from 2025, it now appears that it is finally set to get a release date this year.
Will Suriya’s Karuppu release in February 2026?
According to a report by Studio Flix, the makers of Karuppu are planning to release the film in February 2026. Reportedly, the Retro actor is keen to release the film soon to ensure that his upcoming projects run smoothly.
It is also being reported that the actor’s film, tentatively titled Suriya46 and directed by Venky Atluri, is likely to release in May 2026, while his police action comedy Suriya47 is eyeing an Aayudha Puja release.
However, till now the makers have not given any official confirmation regarding the release date of Karuppu.

Karuppu is said to be the story of a lawyer who gets possessed by a deity to fight against the injustice done to certain sections of the society. The film, directed by RJB (RJ Balaji), was earlier scheduled to release on Diwali last year. However, due to pending post-production work, it was postponed without any confirmed release date.
Apart from Suriya, the film also stars Trisha Krishnan, Indrans, Naty Subramaniam, Swasika, Shivada, Anagha Maiya Ravi, Supreeth Reddy, Yogi Babu and many others in lead roles. Additionally, RJB himself will also make a guest appearance.
Surya’s upcoming movies
Looking ahead, Suriya will follow up his list of releases with the tentatively titled Suriya46, directed by Venky Atluri. The upcoming project is touted to be an emotionally driven drama starring Mamita Baiju and Raveena Tandon in the lead roles. According to speculations, Dulquer Salmaan is likely to play a cameo role in the film.
Apart from this, Suriya has also started work on his police action comedy, tentatively titled Suriya47. Directed by Awesham fame Jeethu Madhavan, the film will star Nazriya Nazim Fahadh in the lead role, while Loka fame Naslane will play a pivotal role.
Although further details about the project have not been revealed yet, the film will be financed by Suriya himself under the banner of Jhaagaram Studios. Additionally, this will mark the Tamil debut of composer Sushin Shyam. The actor is said to have recently completed the promo shoot of the film in Kochi.
