Suriya starrer Vaadivasal expected to start soon as Vetrimaaran completes Viduthalai Part 2? Here’s what the manufacturer has to say

Suriya and director Vetrimaaran’s much-delayed project Vaadivasal has been on fans’ minds for years now. It looks like the film’s producer has finally clarified the status of the project in his latest interview.

Discussing Vaadivasal, the film’s producer in conversation with Behindwoods said, “Suriya is ready to start shooting, while the director was involved in the work of Viduthalai Part 2. That film has now been released.”

Apart from this, the producer told that during this time the work on the film is progressing continuously. He added that the animatronic bull, a key element of the film, is in its final stages of development in London, making it likely that the film will go on floors soon.

For those unaware, Vaadivasal is a film that was announced some time ago with Suriya in the lead role. Directed by Vetrimaaran, the film is set to present a revenge tale set against the backdrop of the bull taming festival in Tamil Nadu.

The story reportedly focuses on Picchi and Marudan, two men who participate in the annual bull-taming festival in the village of Periyapatti. The duo’s goal is to tame a ferocious bull that had defeated Pichichi’s father in the past, setting the stage for a revenge-driven story.

Since the film was in the pre-production stage for quite some time, reports claimed that it might be shelved. However, the director himself had clarified in an earlier media interaction in 2024 that the film was not shelved but was delayed due to his other commitments.

Most recently, director Vetrimaaran released his film Viduthalai: Part 2 on December 20, 2024. This period crime thriller, set in a political scenario, is the second installment of the two-part film franchise.

The film explores the journey of a police constable when he gets caught in a conflict with the leader of a separatist group. Along with Soori and Vijay Sethupathi in the lead roles, the film also stars Gautham Vasudev Menon, Manju Warrier, Kishore, Bhavani Sri, Rajeev Menon, Ilavarasu and Balaji Sakthivel in important roles.

Meanwhile, Suriya will next be seen in a film titled Retro directed by Karthik Subbaraj. This film is said to be a romantic action film, in which Pooja Hegde is playing the lead role.
