Amidst the news of his marriage with Gauri Spratt on July 5, Suchitra Krishnamurthy wished Aamir Khan all the best. His response also revealed his own views on divorce, remarriage and family dynamics.

Actor Suchitra Krishnamurthy has reacted to the news of Aamir Khan marrying his girlfriend Gauri Spratt in an intimate ceremony on July 5. This will be the superstar’s third marriage.

Responding to the reports, Suchitra wished Aamir all the best and talked about finding love again. The 50-year-old also reflected on her life after divorce and shared her thoughts on marriage, relationships and family dynamics.

Suchitra on being single

Suchitra married director Shekhar Kapur in 1999, when she was 22 and he was 52. The couple separated in 2007. They have a daughter, Kaveri Kapoor.

Explaining her decision to live alone after her divorce, Suchitra said that she believes that one must be mentally healthy to make a relationship work. She said that people often ask her why she is single, to which she replies that she is “married to art”, describing her creative life as unpredictable, sometimes unstable, and demanding. He said that it cannot be easy for a partner to lead such a lifestyle. According to him, marriage requires complete clarity and willingness to adjust, and in today’s world, it is more of a choice than a necessity.

She also talked about the realities of marriage in India and said, “I also believe that before getting married you should understand the other person’s family. Often, fights between families and couples create difficulties in the relationship.”

Aamir Khan’s previous marriages

Aamir’s first marriage was to his childhood friend Reena Dutta in a secret and intimate ceremony in 1986. They have two children, Junaid and Ira. Junaid has entered the film industry, while Ira is a mental health advocate. Aamir and Reena divorced in 2002 after 16 years of marriage.

Later Aamir married Kiran Rao in 2005. The two met on the sets of the 2001 film Lagaan, where she was an assistant director. They divorced in 2021 and continue to co-parent their son Azad, who was born via surrogacy.

Last year, on his 60th birthday, Aamir introduced Gauri to the media, after both of them had kept their relationship private for 18 months. Gauri is from Bengaluru and now works in Aamir Khan’s production house.
