Stree 2’s Rajkummar Rao recalls mother’s reaction when he told her about ‘butt-naked scene’ in LSD; ‘She was very sweet and said…’

Rajkummar Rao, who was recently seen in Stree 2, has been a part of the Hindi film industry for over a decade. Rao made his debut in 2010 with director Dibakar Banerjee’s anthology film Love Sex Aur Dhokha. Those who watched LSD know that the Stree 2 actor did a bold scene in his debut film. Rajkummar Rao recently opened up about telling his parents about the “butt-naked scene” in Banerjee’s directorial venture and how his late mother reacted to the scene. Rao said that she was very sweet and asked him to do it.

During a new interview with India Today, Rajkummar Rao revealed how his late mother Kamlesh Yadav did not have any objection to the scene he did in Love Sex Aur Dhokha.

“I told my parents and my mother was very sweet. She said, ‘If this is part of your job, you are an actor, if you feel it is very important, then yes. Go for it’,” Rao recalled.

The Stree 2 actor was asked if there was any issue in his mind that was non-negotiable at the initial stage of his career and if he has changed his mind about it over the years.

Rajkummar Rao revealed that he has no problem stepping out of his comfort zone to play a role if the character demands it. Rao said that the role should be quite “believable”. Recalling the bold LSD scene, the actor revealed that the censor board at that time did not “approve” the scene. It was blurred out during the film’s release.

The Love Sex Aur Dhokha actor further added that he felt “scared”, but since it was his “big break”, the actor could not refuse the role due to his convenience. Rao said that he agreed to play his role, but acknowledged that the opportunity might never come again.

Rajkummar Rao also said that if someone has to convince him to do a role or a scene, then they have to convince him that the film cannot be made without it.

In Love Sex Aur Dhokha, Rao was part of a segment titled Paap Ki Dukan. It was an anthology found-footage drama film that also starred Nushrat Bharucha. The film was produced by Ekta Kapoor under Balaji Telefilms’ ALT Entertainment banner.
