‘Stree 2’ director Amar Kaushik said, there is no impact on Bond amid the credit war
‘Stree 2’ director Amar Kaushik spoke to IndiaToday.in about the bond between the actors amid reports of credit war. The film released on August 15 and was a huge commercial success.
Stree 2, directed by Amar Kaushik, has already crossed the Rs 500 crore mark globally, making it the biggest Hindi release of 2024. While the film remains steady, it is the alleged PR game over the star cast that has currently taken centre stage. The controversy over who credits Stree 2’s success to Shraddha Kapoor vs Rajkummar Rao made headlines recently. Reacting to this, in an interview with India Today, Amar said that the team is solid even today and this ‘noise’ has not affected their bond.
Amar Kaushik told India Today, “To be honest, fans of stars often fight on social media over whether their favourite actor should get all the credit for a film. That’s fine. It’s really everyone’s own business. Fan wars on social media over credit are common. Also, when a film does well, people around (stars) start brainwashing everyone, including the actors, that they should get the credit for the film. So, I went on a vacation to stay away from the noise because usually when you achieve a certain goal, it’s easy to get caught up in such social media games.”
When Amar was asked if the controversy has affected their relationship or created a rift, he said, “Our relationship has gotten even better. In fact, we have shot a video with the entire cast where we are rehashing the ‘who will get the credit for the film’ fight and then I say, ‘It’s my film.’ It’s a fun video that we have recorded.”
The filmmaker explained that the credit for the success goes to everyone involved with the film, “But everyone knows that even though the faces of the film were maybe those 5-6 people, everyone who worked behind the scenes is equally responsible for the success of the film. If the VFX guy had not done good VFX, the audience would not have liked the film. Similarly, if the sound person who voiced Sarakata did not scream the way he did, it would not have had the same impact. Everyone behind and in front of the film is responsible for the success. Now, the love everyone gets may vary.”
Stree 2 is currently in theatres and stars Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Aparshakti Khurana, Pankaj Tripathi and Abhishek Banerjee among others in lead roles.
