Filmmaker Amar Kaushik, who made his directorial debut with Stree in 2018, is enjoying the success of its sequel Stree 2. Starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, the recently released horror comedy has become the talk of the town. While the team continues to celebrate the film’s success, a controversy has erupted over the alleged PR game over the credit war. After Aparshakti Khurana, director Amar Kaushik recently reacted to the credit war, discussing whether it has affected the bond between the star cast.
During a new interview with India Today, Amar Kaushik shared his opinion on the ongoing credit war and suggested that it is quite common on social media. Amar revealed that he went on a vacation to keep himself away from the noise.
The filmmaker said fans get into “social media wars” to prove that the credit for a film’s success should go to their favourite actor.
Talking about the performance of Stree 2 in theatres, Amar said, “When a film does well, people (stars) around start talking in everyone’s mind, including the actors, that they should get the credit for the film. So, I went on a vacation to stay away from the noise.”
The director said people get caught in such “social media games” once the box office collections touch a certain figure.
Stree 2 director Amar Kaushik was also asked if the credit war has affected the bond between the actors. The filmmaker shared that their bond has gotten “better”, so much so that the team has recorded a funny video about the credit war.
Talking about the recently released horror comedy, Amar credited the entire cast and crew for its success. The filmmaker said that the people working behind the scenes also deserved the same.
Citing the examples of the crew members who did the VFX work and lent their voices to Sarakata, the director said that without these contributions the film would not have had such an impact. The director emphasised that though his team including the cast and crew deserve all the credit for its success, their level of appreciation varies.
Apart from Shraddha and Rajkummar, Stree 2 also featured an ensemble cast of Aparshakti Khurana, Abhishek Banerjee and Pankaj Tripathi. It was released on August 15.
