‘Stree 2’ is performing brilliantly at the box office and has become the 8th Bollywood film to attain the ‘All-Time Blockbuster’ status. After its 14th day of business, the horror-comedy surpassed the overall India collections of ‘Baahubali: The Beginning’ (Rs 421 crore), and grossed a staggering Rs 424 crore. However, it registered its lowest single-day business, collecting Rs 9.25 crore nett on the second Wednesday, as reported by the trade website. Saconilc,

Directed by Amar Kaushik, the film impressed the audience with its strong content. The biggest success of the film was bringing the family audience, including children, back to the theatres. ‘Stree 2’ has already created several great records at the box office and now it aims to surpass the lifetime earnings of ‘Gadar 2’ (Rs 525.7 crore), ‘Pathan’ (Rs 543.09 crore) and ‘Animal’ (Rs 553.87 crore).

  • Week 1: Rs 291.65 crore
  • Friday: Rs 17.5 crore
  • Saturday: Rs 33 crore
  • Sunday: Rs 42.4 crore
  • Monday: Rs 18.5 crore
  • Tuesday: Rs 11.75 crore
  • Wednesday: Rs 9.25 crore
  • Total: Rs 424.05 crore

Starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead, the film is expected to cross the Rs 500 crore mark in India by its third weekend. It will be the fifth Bollywood film to join this club in the history of Indian cinema and the ninth film overall including the big South films.

The biggest target for the film would be to surpass the lifetime collections of ‘Jawaan’ in its total run. It would be an ambitious target, but it’s nothing that ‘Stree 2’ can’t really achieve. The Shah Rukh Khan starrer is the biggest Bollywood release of all time with a total net domestic collection of Rs 640.25 crore. Maddock’s film could surpass this target if other new releases hitting the screens in September don’t affect its smooth run.

At the moment, anything seems possible for ‘Stree 2’ at the box office.
