It is to unveil in spring this year, beyond the 30th anniversary of the film on 20 October 2025.

The iconic film marked the beginning of Aditya Chopra’s direction and was produced under Yash Raj Films Banner by his father, Yash Chopra.

The film, which was largely shot in the UK, follows the romance between two young non -resident Indians, Raj and Simran, who falls in love with friends during the European holiday. Interestingly, it is around the Leester Square, where Raj and Simran inadvertently inadvertently face each other in the film.

According to the press release, the new statue will be placed on the eastern roof outside the Odone cinema, which will pay tribute to a prestigious scene of the film.

Mark Williams, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the London Business Alliance, said, “Murthy is a suitable tribute to Bollywood’s global popularity and a celebration of the rich diversity of London. We have no doubt that it will attract fans around the world to Lacester Square, Film and Entertainment.”

DDLJ, as it is fondly called, includes Anupam Kher, Amrit Puri, Farida Jalal, Pooja Ruarel and Mandira Bedi.
