Today Spotify is launching a new feature in the US called Reserved. This basically means that Spotify is putting together two concert tickets for an artist’s most dedicated fans, and will give them a chance to get said tickets before the general sale goes live.
The company isn’t disclosing how it determines who to offer these tickets to, because it doesn’t want to encourage strategic linking. But it said eligibility is “based on a wide range of signals such as streams, saves and shares, as well as location”. The location factor matters because he wants these tickets to only reach fans who are likely to actually attend.
If you’re eligible for a particular artist, your reserved offer will be shown on your Spotify home screen, and you’ll also get a notification and an email about it. To make sure you aren’t disappointed, make sure you have notifications for live concerts and events, your app is updated, and you’ve set your location in your live events feed.
This offer can be found in search, on the artist’s page, in your live event feed, and even in the Now Playing view, so it’s highly unlikely to disappear once it’s available. When your reserve window opens, you can tap Buy Now to select up to two tickets for a reserve-eligible date on the tour.
Your window is “usually” around one day, and you can purchase two tickets at any time throughout that day. However, to ensure you get your preferred specific date, location, and seats, the earlier you purchase, the better. Once you have selected your tickets you will be directed to Ticketmaster to complete checkout.
For this step, you may need to connect your Spotify account to Ticketmaster. For some “high-demand shows”, you may enter a queue before reaching the ticket selection page. Even though two tickets will be placed at your window for you on the tour, if you are at the end of the queue you may not get specific seats for the specific show you want. you will get Some? seats, but probably not They Seats.
Reserve lets you purchase tickets for any eligible date on the tour, not just the show that’s closest to you. Reserved allocations include “a range of seating locations and prices”, and availability varies by show. Unclaimed reserved tickets will be made available to “the next most dedicated eligible fans”. Reserve is available “for select artists and tours”, only to Spotify Premium subscribers who are 18 years of age or older.
