Special Kunal Kemmu shares update on Golmaal 5, confirms Margao Express sequel
In an exclusive interview with India Today, Kunal Khemu shares updates on Golmaal 5 and Margao Express 2. He said that the shooting of the film Golmaal is going on, while work is going on on the sequel of his directorial debut film.

After gaining recognition as an actor and then a director Madgaon ExpressActor Kunal Kemmu is now enjoying his stint as a host with the reality series alliance. In an exclusive conversation with India Today, the actor talked about entering the reality television arena and also gave an update on his two most awaited projects: breakup 5 And Madgaon Express 2.

chaos The team recently shared a picture from their shoot, which got fans excited. The actor confirmed that the shooting of the next installment of Rohit Shetty’s blockbuster comedy franchise is currently underway and said reuniting with the cast is nothing short of nostalgic.
“We’re still making that film. We’re shooting for it. It’s been so much fun meeting all of them and going back to the characters that we played 7-8 years ago and even before that. As it says in the teaser, they’ve been doing this for 20 years; I joined the third one, but it’s so much fun to be on that set. And I really hope it turns out to be something that people enjoy as much because I know it’s probably the most I love in a Hindi film. It’s one of the best franchises in the industry. We all hope it lives up to the standards of the fans.”
chaos The franchise started in 2006 Golmaal: Fun Unlimited And became one of the most successful comedy series of Hindi cinema. Kunal also joined breakup 3 (2010) and has remained an integral part of the franchise ever since.
Apart from this, there was some good news for the fans of the actor. Madgaon ExpressThe sleeper hit comedy which marked Kunal’s directorial debut in 2024. After the successful theatrical run of the film, the audience is looking forward to another outing with Dodo, Aayush and Pinku (Divyendu Sharma, Avinash Tiwari and Prateek Gandhi).
Turns out, Kunal has already taken the first step to get the sequel started as he confirmed the sequel, saying, “I know fans have been demanding it. And yes, it’s in the works. I’ve actually written it. But there’s time.”
Kunal further revealed that after his successful transition behind the camera, people in the industry initially thought about his acting career. He said, “I think there were some people in the beginning who asked me, ‘Are you going to act now?’ I said, of course, this is my first love and I will always do that. But I think now they have realized, and I did something like Single Papa after Madgaon Express, and then I have also cast myself in my next film Vibe. Now I’m doing this (alliance), so yes, and I think if the message isn’t there, I’m just putting it out there – ‘I’m still acting guys’!
Kunal said that while films keep him busy, he is also exploring a completely different medium as a host alliance. And unlike many celebrity hosts, who consciously develop a television persona, the actor said he has never believed in projecting an image to the audience. He said that he has never taken on any project with the intention of building a public image, adding that he has never relied on PR to create a certain perception about himself.
Smiling, he further added that when Alliance came to him, he was surprised that the producers had approached him first. “Even with this show, I asked these people, ‘Why did you come to me? Why did you think of me? What does it say about me that I’m good for this?’ And he said, ‘The idea is to do something different because you don’t fit in.’ And we will see. I said, ‘Okay, then good luck,’ Kunal said laughing.
