Actress Sonakshi Sinha wore her mother Poonam Sinha’s vintage saree and jewellery for her wedding ceremony on Sunday, June 23.
Actress Sonakshi Sinha looked stunning in an ivory saree as she married her boyfriend of seven years, Zaheer Iqbal, on Sunday, June 23. Instead of opting for a designer outfit, Sonakshi chose a sustainable approach by upcycling her mother Poonam Sinha’s wedding saree.
IndiaToday.in has learned that the embroidered ivory saree that Sonakshi wore belonged to her mother Poonam. Moreover, the Dabangg actress picked matching jewellery from her mother’s collection.
The first pictures from Sonakshi’s wedding were shared by the couple on Instagram. In their caption, Sonakshi and Zaheer revealed the significance of the date June 23.
He wrote, “On this day, seven years ago (23.06.2017), we saw love in its purest form in each other’s eyes and decided to hold on to it. Today, that love has guided us through all the challenges and victories… to this moment… where with the blessings of both our families and both our Gods… we are now husband and wife.”
“We look forward to love, hope and all the beautiful things we have with each other, from now until forever,” she added.
At the wedding ceremony, Sonakshi looked stunning in her mother’s saree, while Zaheer Iqbal accompanied her in a white embroidered kurta-pyjama. At the wedding reception, both wore traditional attire, with Sonakshi wearing a red Banarasi silk saree.
Sonakshi and Zaheer’s wedding reception is a star-studded affair, with Kajol, Huma Qureshi, Saira Bano and many others in attendance. DJ Ganesh, who will be performing at the reception, had earlier revealed that around 1,000 people are expected to attend it.
