In Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen, Rachel Harkin (Camila Morrone) and Nicky Cunningham (Adam DeMarco) are less than a week away from their big day. Just before their wedding, the plan turns extremely strange (and interesting) as Rachel has this inexplicable thought that something is about to go horribly wrong. Unable to overcome this feeling, she becomes wary of her would-be husband’s family, who do not welcome her at all. However, something bad happens to him, proving the title’s importance in a horrific twist of fate.
The latest horror miniseries, directed by the Duffer Brothers (Stranger Things) and Haley Jade Boston, hits screens with a Netflix premiere on March 26, 2026. In addition to the engaged couple played by Camila Morrone and Adam DiMarco, the series brings Gus Birney, Karla Crome, Sawyer Fraser, Jeff Wilbush, Ted Levin, and Jennifer Jason Leigh to the project. The 8-part series was released simultaneously and shows how marriages with the slightest spark can quickly turn deadly.

The last episode of the show shows the two on their wedding day and how the bride comes to know about the curse that is following her family after the witness told it to her in the previous part. To overcome it, she needs to believe that she is marrying her soulmate and do so before sunset, otherwise the curse will follow the other person’s family, in this case Nikki, and destroy everyone in their family. Rachel has the option of drinking a potion that would ensure that her man is complete to her, but instead she chooses to trust their relationship.
As their wedding is about to begin at the groom’s family’s cabin, he gets cold feet and begins to question whether he really wants to marry Rachel at the altar. The delay begins the evil side of the curse, killing Rachel and the rest of Nicky’s family as the curse then attaches itself to her blood. The couple say I do, but the marriage never reaches its rightful place as their hesitation shakes their faith in their relationship, triggering a series of deaths.
Her mother, Victoria (Jennifer Jason Leigh), bleeds to death, and so does Portia (Gus Birney), neither of whom believed they were married to their partners. However, Nicky survives because of his faith in his love for Rachel, and she comes back to life, turning herself into a witness, leaving Nicky to witness the following weddings in her lineage, including the wedding of her brother’s son Jude (Sawyer Fraser), whom she warns him against.
Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen contains the larger message of not wasting your time on relationships you don’t trust.
