Actor Soha Ali Khan has disappointed the reports that the Control Board for Cricket in India (BCCI) and England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) are considering retiring the Pataudi Trophy. The trophy is an important award in honor of his late father, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, and was honored during the India-England Test series.
In a conversation ZoomSoha Ali Khan said, “For us, it is disappointing whether they are considering or chosen to retire the Pataudi Trophy, because I think my father’s contribution to Indian cricket is very high and, in some form, I think it is important to recognize the contribution of people in the early years, which really likes the Indian-late, and the same things.” He said, “I think they should be remembered in some form, somehow and hope that the BCCI will consider some other ways to do so, if it is not.”
First, Actor Sharmila Tagore, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi’s wife, also expressed her feelings on the matterSaying that she was hurt by the decision to retire the Pataudi Trophy. He told Hindustan Times“I have not heard from them, but the ECB has sent a letter to Saif that they are retiring the trophy. If the BCCI does not want to remember the legacy of Tiger or does not want, it is to decide for him.”
An experienced cricketer Sunil Gavaskar also criticized the decision in his column SportstarSaying that “both England and India reflect the total lack of sensitivity to the contribution made by Pataudis for cricket.”
The Petudi Trophy is named in honor of Ifatikhar Ali Khan Pataudi, who had a rare difference of representing both England and India in Test matches. His legacy was continued by his son, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, who not only played for India, but also led the national team as captain.
