Singer and Padma Bhushan recipient Sharda Sinha passes away
Famous folk singer Sharda Sinha, famous for her Chhath songs, passed away at the age of 72. The Padma Bhushan awardee was battling multiple myeloma since 2018.

Bihar’s folk icon Sharda Sinha passed away on 5 November. Known for her Chhath songs, the Padma Bhushan recipient was admitted to AIIMS hospital in New Delhi on October 27. Sinha, 72, was fighting multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer, since 2018. His son, Anshuman Sinha, who had been sharing updates on his health on social media, confirmed the news on Instagram.

He has played an important role in bringing the traditional music of Bihar to a wider audience. His most popular songs include Kelwa Ke Paat Par Ugalan Suraj Mal Jhake Jhuke, Hey Chhathi Maiya, Ho Dinanath, Bahangi Lachkat Jaye, Roze Roze Ugela, Suna Chhathi Mai, Jode Jode Supava and Patna Ke Ghat Par. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2018.
