Silambarasan TR had earlier announced that his upcoming film, tentatively titled STR51, will be directed by Dragon fame Ashwath Marimuthu. Now, it appears that the film may go on floors soon, with speculations rife about the title of this fantasy action film.
Silambarasan TR’s STR51 to be titled Paradise?
According to online reports, Silambarasan TR’s STR51 is likely to be titled Paradise. The shooting of the upcoming film is expected to begin on May 1, 2026. However, this has not been confirmed by the manufacturers.
Although the title has not been officially confirmed yet, director Ashwath Marimuthu had earlier said that the film will have the concept of heaven. He explained that Dragon advocates the importance of education, while STR51 will focus on heaven.
The director said that he would not impose any message on the film, as it would flow naturally. He also mentioned that it was a great script with many interesting elements that he could not reveal at the moment.
Furthermore, the filmmaker confirmed that actor and popular comedian Santhanam will play a pivotal role in the film, with multiple heroines appearing in co-lead roles.
Although more details about the film have not been revealed yet, it is being said that STR51 is a fantasy romantic action film. The film will reportedly feature Simbu in the role of a “god of love”, with the director promising a film reminiscent of the actor’s past ventures. It is expected to hit the big screens in 2027.
Silambarasan TR’s workfront
Silambarasan TR was last seen in the lead role in Thug Life opposite Kamal Haasan. Directed by Mani Ratnam, the gangster action film revolves around the hostility that develops between an aging don and his foster son due to a misunderstanding.
Apart from Haasan and STR, the film also stars Trisha Krishnan, Aishwarya Lakshmi, Abhirami, Ashok Selvan, Joju George, Nassar, Mahesh Manjrekar and many others in pivotal roles. The film received an overwhelming response from both critics and audiences and is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
Looking ahead, Simbu is currently filming Arasan directed by Vetrimaaran. The gangster actioner Vada is based on the Chennai cinematic universe and serves as a spin-off of the Dhanush-starrer. With Vijay Sethupathi in the lead role, the makers recently started the second schedule of shooting, with reports suggesting Priyanka Mohan will be playing an important role.
