Jana Nayakan starring Thalapathy Vijay in the lead role was scheduled to release on January 9, 2026, coinciding with Pongal this year. However, since CBFC certification is still pending, the makers were forced to postpone the release, leaving many fans and viewers disappointed.
As the industry reacted to the delay in certification of the superstar’s final film, Silambarasan TR has expressed his support for Vijay, and stressed that the day Jana Nayakan releases will be the day the real “celebrations” begin.

In a recent social media post, Silambarasan TR wrote, “Dear Vijay Anna, setbacks have never stopped you. You have braved even bigger storms. This too shall pass, the real Thiruvizha (festival) begins on the day Jana Nayagan releases.”

Apart from STR, Ravi Mohan also came out in support of Thalapathy Vijay and underlined that “Pongal” will actually come only when the film releases.
For those unaware, Jana Naygan has not yet received certification from the CBFC. Since certification has not been granted, the manufacturers have approached the judiciary in hopes of obtaining a final decision. The makers will finalize the new release date only after the decision is taken.
The production house has officially released a press note regarding the delay of the film. Furthermore, reports suggest that both domestic and international bookings have been returned to the audience.

Jana Nayakan starring Thalapathy Vijay is seen as the last cinematic appearance of the superstar. Directed by H. Vinoth, the film tells the story of Thalapathy Vetri Kondan, a former police officer and convict who adopts a young girl named Viji and is determined to raise her into a strong and independent woman. He also convinces him to join the army, despite his fear of violence.
