She said, “I met him at his restaurant a few years ago and I felt sorry for him. And then someone you know says if you were thinner, you’d look really good. That’s a lot.”

The actress revealed that the impact of bullying extended beyond her school years. As she grew up, negative comments about her appearance continued to impact her self-perception.

Shefali further told about the problems she faces due to the compliments she receives regarding her looks. She said, “…I don’t like the way I look. I don’t think I’ll ever be that thin. I won’t be. It’s very rare that I look at myself and say, ‘Oh! I look good’. But I just can’t see it. When someone compliments me, ‘You look beautiful’, I can’t take that compliment.”

The actor’s recent work includes her role as DIG Vartika Chaturvedi in the third season of the crime drama series Delhi Crime,

Part of India Today’s review reads, “Like its previous seasons, ‘Delhi Crime 3’ is not a whodunit, but a whydunit. You already know the criminals; what keeps you engaged over the course of six episodes is the psychological and emotional reveal: the why and the how. While the season promised to be the most exciting yet, the thrills are surprisingly sporadic.”

It added, “The race to the states keeps you going, but the lingering tension, that sense of urgency, that once defined ‘Delhi Crime’ is a bit lacking. Another mistake is the finale, which leans too much towards drama, slipping into an almost Bollywood-style climax. But apart from that, the show is one of the most relevant Indian dramas of our times.”

The show, which is currently available for streaming, also stars Rasika Duggal, Rajesh Tailang, Huma Qureshi, Sayani Gupta, Mita Vashishtha, Anshuman Pushkar and Kelly Dorjee.
