First trailer for Hugh Jackman and Bryan Cranston’s mystery-comedy sheep detective Was released on December 19, 2025. The film blends wit, emotion and mystery, portraying the challenges faced by an unlikely group of crime-solvers.

George (Hugh Jackman) is a shepherd who reads detective novels to his beloved sheep every night, believing that they cannot possibly understand. But when a mysterious incident turns life on the farm upside down, the sheep realize they must become spies. As they follow clues and investigate human suspects, they prove that sheep can also be brilliant crime-solvers. The film is presented by Sony Pictures Entertainment and Amazon MGM Studios.

The trailer also shows light moments of the bond between the shepherd and the sheep in the field. In addition to being a mystery, the story also depicts themes of loyalty, resilience, courage, and betrayal. From the moments of suspense to the countryside life, the police investigation and the suspects’ family, The Sheep Detectives borrows elements from the old-school suspense-thriller.

Jackman’s last theatrical release was director Shawn Levy’s superhero film, Deadpool and Wolverine. The film also stars Ryan Reynolds, Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Aaron Stanford and more.

Levy wrote the screenplay with Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wells. The film was co-produced by Marvel Studios and Maximum Effort 21 Laps Entertainment.

Directed by Kyle Balda and written by Craig Mazin, the cast led by Jackman and Cranston also includes Nicholas Braun, Nicholas Galitzine, Molly Gordon, Hong Chau, Emma Thompson, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Chris O’Dowd, Regina Hall, Patrick Stewart, Bella Ramsey and Rhys Darby. The film is based on the 2005 novel three bags full By Leonie Swan.

Thompson, who plays a starring role in The Sheep Detectives, was last seen in the romantic-comedy Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, directed by Michael Morris. It was based on the novel of the same name by Helen Fielding.

The Sheep Detectives is set for theatrical release in India on May 8, 2026.
