Sean Diddy Combs has issued a cease-and-desist letter from jail demanding that he shut down his former mentor Shine’s recent Hulu documentary, which seeks to revive the memories of the infamous 1999 Manhattan nightclub shooting incident. The Bad Boy Records founder, who was present at the scene with Jennifer Lopez, went to trial with Shinee in 2001. However, only Diddy’s disciple was convicted of the attack.
Born Jamal Barrow, Shine is now the Leader of the Opposition in the Belize House of Representatives and leader of the Belize United Democratic Party, following his personal transformation following his release from prison and deportation in 2009. He previously alleged that he lashed out at Diddy during a hearing in the nightclub shooting case, where shots were fired after an altercation that left three people injured.
Sources tell Page Six that Diddy is not trying to stop the release of the documentary, but rather he wants to make sure the facts are accurate. ESPN’s Endscape is behind the film, which chronicles Shine’s transformation from a brief foray into rap music to now a full-time politician in Belize.
After finding his religious path and healing, he left music for politics and gained a prominent position on the Belizean Walls, building a large political base. The film chronicles his subsequent development in life, while bringing back the negative attention that preceded his first dealings with Diddy.

In the documentary, he says, “Everyone was partying and having a good time with Diddy while I was left to rot in jail.” In the documentary itself, Shiney explains that the case was fabricated against him and he acted on Diddy’s assurance, which later turned against him. It is said that Diddy created such a story around him that it got out of control.
The rapper-turned-politician told The Post, “(Combs) called witnesses to testify against me, to say that basically I was an unruly person who was acting corruptly, who was not truthful. Was the farthest.”
The world premiere of the documentary film on November 18 comes at an interesting time for Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, who has had to deal with a number of legal issues and allegations. He has been arrested since September on charges of conspiracy and sex trafficking, among other related crimes.
