Trigger warning: This article mentions the death of a person.
The world lost an acclaimed singer, Sharda Sinha, on November 5, 2024. The award-winning artiste, who is especially known for singing folk and devotional songs dedicated to Chhath Puja, left for his heavenly abode on the first day of the festival. Hearing the heartbreaking news, actor, singer and politician Manoj Tiwari rushed to AIIMS hospital to get the last glimpse of Bihar’s cuckoo.
Titled ‘Bihar Kokila’, Sharda Sinha’s voice was an integral part of many festivals and pujas in India. His melodious and soulful voice can often be heard on loudspeakers, especially on the auspicious occasion of Chhath Puja celebrated across the country. But sadly, he passed away on the very day people started the festival. On receiving information about his demise, Manoj Tiwari reached AIIMS Hospital to meet his bereaved family and pay his last respects.
News agency ANI released a video which showed Manoj standing with folded hands in the corridor as doctors took Sinha away on a stretcher. Members of his entourage, his son Anshuman Sinha and many others joined him.
To keep an eye:
A few days ago, the Padma Shri awardee’s son Anshuman Sinha took to his official YouTube channel to give his fans an update about his health. At that time he had told that his condition was worsening and he was on ventilator. He also urged everyone to pray for his mother’s speedy recovery. But sadly, on November 5, Anshuman announced on his official Instagram handle that his mother is no more with us.
In the note, he said Devi took away the 72-year-old woman when she was on a ventilator and undergoing treatment at Delhi’s AIIMS hospital. Reports suggest that Sharda Sinha was in shock after the demise of her husband Brij Kishore Sinha earlier this year.
Apart from singing regional songs in Bhojpuri, Maithili, Magahi and Hindi languages, Sinha also lent her voice to the song ‘Kahe To Se Sajna’ from Salman Khan’s 1989 film Maine Pyar Kiya. He is credited for the song Taar Bijli from Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur 2 and many other songs.
