At a time when many star kids are often asked about how to “survive” in the industry, Shanaya said she doesn’t relate to that narrative. Instead, she sees this phase as an exciting moment for cinema and for herself as a newcomer. talking to India Today Specifically, she said, “Yeah, I mean, for me, there is no survival. It’s a very exciting time to be a part of movies. Everyone is back in the theater. Everyone is making different types of projects. So I’m just enjoying the ride. I think I always tell myself to focus on your craft. Keep your head down, keep working, and good things will happen. And this is your journey, don’t compare it to anyone else. The universe has already. I have really strong plans for you, especially in our industry.
She further explained that although ambition and planning are important, not everything is under one’s control, especially in showbiz. “It’s your destiny. Some things are in your control, and some things aren’t. What is in your control is that you can continue to work hard. Other things aren’t there, so why worry about that? I just focus on what I can do as an actor. And that’s having a good time, which is also really important, and working on yourself. You can make your own plans, but the plans are already written for you.”
In the age of instant reactions and constant social media commentary, Shanaya also explained how she processes feedback, especially as someone who is often labeled an insider. “I’m here, that’s what I believe, for the audience’s acceptance. And if the audience is giving their feedback and showing you ways where you can improve and what you need to work on, then you owe it to them as an actor to listen and believe that, OK, this is where I can obviously work. Everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses. It’s important to know that, take it from your side and work on it.”
