The anchor couldn’t stop himself from commenting on the foreign decorations in the house and quickly asked what was this? Native To this, Shama Sikander jokingly replied that she adds Indian flavour to her home. Shama always dreamt of building an American-European themed home and what it looks like is exactly that.
View on InstagramShama’s home gets a lot of sunlight through walk-in doors and French windows, which is rare in Mumbai. The high-rise building and the floor she lives on also brightens up the place. She had a completely white interior and additional decor that added to the black and white theme in the interior. It was inspired by Ralph Lauren’s interiors and architecture to put the bits and pieces together. Hence, she chose a wall full of photos that matched her story with interiors, chandeliers, staircases, animals, freedom, music and more.
The furniture in Shama's house, including the stonework dining table and chairs, were imported by her from China. The rest of the items were handpicked by her from her travels over the years. When she couldn't bring her own luggage back home, she would import furniture from abroad.
But not all of their decor is entirely global products. The ivory sofa set that adds grandeur to their living space was made to order in India. Even their white and black shade human figurine head lamps are handmade by an Indian artist.
She added the coffee table book element for decor as well as because she loves to read. Reflecting her love for animals, she put animal photo art on her walls. She also added marble decor pieces from the United States that decorate her tabletop. Mirror work pieces like the tribal themed white round mirror on her wall further enhance the beauty of her balcony.
Natural elements like flowers and plants also add a freshness to the interiors. The open kitchen has also been renovated with the latest appliances and pleasing grey cabinets. This has been done so that food can be cooked live and create an aromatic experience.
Walking into Shama Sikander's apartment in Mumbai was a unique experience of interior design and entertainment.
