Overwhelmed SRK called the responsibility of the National Award to show the truth, not the finishing line
Actor Shah Rukh Khan wrote a heartfelt note for winning the best actor at a major role award for ‘Jawa’ at the 71st National Film Awards. He shared the award with actor Wikrant Massey.

Actor Shah Rukh Khan reacted to win the National Award for Best Actor at a major role award for director Atley’s ‘Jawan’ (2023). He shared the award with actor Wikrant Massey. Massey won the award for director Vidya Vinod Chopra’s ’12th Fail’. This is the first national award win for both Khan and Massey.
Expressing gratitude over the prestigious awards, the ‘Jawan’ actor wrote on Instagram with a video, “Thank you for honoring me with the National Award. Thank you for the jury, I & B Ministry. ISS Samman Ke Liye Bharat Sarkar Ka Dhanwad.
In the video, he can be seen saying, “There is no need to say a national award with gratitude and humility. It is a moment to be honored with a National Award that I will cherish for a lifetime. The jury, the chairman and the Information and Broadcasting Ministry thank you very much and for everyone who thought that I was worthy of this honor.”
Khan further says, “I want to thank all my directors and writers especially for the year 2023. Therefore, thanks Raju sir, thanks and especially Etley Sir and his team trusted me to give me a chance in their film ‘Jawan’ and to be worthy of this award. Give me surely and give me full attention and I am much better than you still like it.”
“This award will not be possible at all, without their perseverance and love. Thank you very much for what you do. My wife and children, who have given me so much love and care in the last few years as if I am a child at home and they want the best for me. They know that I take away from them.

‘Jawan’ was supported by Khan’s Home Production Company – Red Chilli Entertainment. The film also featured the actors – Nayantara, Vijay Sethupathi, Sanya Malhotra, Sunil Grover and other important characters.
Director Ashuots Gowariker, who was present in the panel, announced the winners. At a ceremony held on August 1, 2025, actor Rani Mukherjee won the Best Actress at a major role award for ‘Mrs. Chatterjee vs. Norway’ (2023). Among the top honors, ‘Kathala: A Calf Mystery’ (2023) received the National Film Award for Best Hindi Feature Film.
The award for the best popular film providing complete entertainment went to director Karan Johar’s ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kim Prem Kahani’ (2023). The award for Best Film in AVGC (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comic) went to ‘Hanu-Man’ (2023). The award for the best feature film promoting national, social and environmental values went to ‘Sam Bahadur’ (2023). Director Sudeepto Ghosh’s ‘The Kerala Story’ won the award for the best cinematography and best direction.
Khan was last seen in director Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘Dunki’ (2023). He will be seen next time in Siddharth Anand’s ‘Raja’. The film, co-produced by Marfix Entertainment and Red Chilli Entertainment, also stars Suhana Khan (Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter), Abhay Verma, Jaideep Ahlawat, Abhishek Bachchan, Jackie Shroff and other lead roles.
‘King’ has been temporarily set for a dramatic release on Gandhi Jayanti 2026.
