Pathan is a special film for Shah Rukh Khan as it was his grand comeback after a long hiatus from acting. It also served as his entry into the popular YRF spy universe. Pinkvilla was the first to report that a sequel is in the works. Now, writer of the first part Abbas Tyrewala has confirmed that the script of Pathan 2 is ready for dialogue and he hopes it will be offered to him.
In a recent installment of the podcast Cyrus Sez, Pathan writer Abbas Tyrewala gave a major update on its sequel. He said, “Pathan 2 is scheduled. I believe the script is almost ready for dialogues. Hopefully it will be offered to me, I hope.”
Earlier in February 2024, Pinkvilla exclusively reported that Shah Rukh Khan and Aditya Chopra have decided to make Pathan a standalone franchise within the YRF Spy Universe.
A source close to the development revealed, “Shahrukh Khan as Pathan is certainly a character that has struck a chord with the audience, and there has been a constant demand from the audience to see more of Shah Rukh in the spy avatar. Soon after its release in January 2023, Adi and Shah Rukh had decided to turn Pathan into a standalone franchise within the Spy Universe and the former had begun contemplating a sequel to this all-time blockbuster.”
The source added that Pathan 2 will set things up for bigger conflicts in the future timeline of the universe.
During the above conversation, Abbas Tyrewala also revealed that he recently completed the first draft of the dialogue for the film King. King is Shah Rukh Khan’s next film and it is his first collaboration with his daughter Suhana Khan. Directed by Sujoy Ghosh, the action thriller will be co-produced by Gauri Khan and Siddharth Anand.
Pinkvilla recently revealed that the first schedule of King is set to begin in Mumbai from January 2025. This will be followed by a marathon schedule in Europe. The makers are planning to shoot the film by August or September next year and are currently aiming to release on Eid 2026.
