Shabana Azmi shares video of CJP protest, salutes all fellow protesters
After supporting the CJP movement at Jantar Mantar, Shabana Azmi joined thousands of protesters marching towards Parliament. He said that the protesters are exercising their constitutional right to peaceful protest as the monsoon session begins.
Veteran actress Shabana Azmi joined the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP)’s march towards Parliament on Monday and shared several videos and pictures from the protest site. In one such clip shared on Monday evening, the 75-year-old actor is seen wading through the crowd, seeking help from fellow protesters as he tries to reach the protest.
Azmi also appeared to be recording herself from the site and could be heard saying, “Maa I have reached here (I have reached here).” While sharing the video, she wrote in Hindi, “Salute to all the friends who gathered here in such numbers. (My greetings to all the friends who have gathered here in such large numbers).”

In another photo shared by the site, Azmi was seen sitting in the crowd with actor-turned-politician Prakash Raj. Captioning the photo, he wrote, “In the truck. The government has finally agreed to talks. This is a peaceful protest at Jantar Mantar for educational reforms.”

His participation came a day after CJP joined the protest at Jantar Mantar ahead of the group’s proposed ‘Sansad Chalo’ march. This march coincides with the opening day of the monsoon session of Parliament.
On Sunday, Azmi and actor Prakash Raj joined the protest at Jantar Mantar and expressed solidarity with the protesters. Video from the protest site shows Azmi greeting Prakash Raj before interacting with the protesters.
Azmi had also said that the people participating in the protest were exercising their constitutional right to peaceful protest. The actress’s presence at the protest site on Sunday was followed by her participation in the march towards Parliament on Monday.
As the march moved towards the high-security Parliament area, security forces attempted to stop the protesters from breaking the barricades. The situation led to clashes between protesters and police, with tear gas shells being fired and lathicharge being used to disperse the crowd.
The CJP is demanding education reforms and resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in the NEET exam.
