Shaan is one of the few singers who is appreciated for his honest and unfiltered nature. Recently during an interview he talked about the problems of drug and alcohol use in the music industry. He admitted to having personal experience with these substances but stressed that relying on them could ‘disable’ the singer in the long run. He also called for making rules against such practices.
The use of drugs and alcohol for creative stimulation in the music industry has been a topic of discussion nationally and globally. In a new interview with Ranveer Allahabadia on his podcast, The Ranveer Show, Shaan shared his experiences and opinions on the issue.
The singer, known for his soulful voice, admitted to having experienced drug addiction and advised other musicians not to fall into the same trap. He said, “Don’t use substances to cause depression or for personal gain. They should not be used commercially; in fact, you should avoid anything that could become a recourse for you.”
He acknowledged that these substances may provide a temporary boost in creativity, but over time, they can take over the mind, making it difficult to function without them. Initially, it may seem that drugs or alcohol enhance performance, but in reality, they harm one’s health.
The famous singer recalled the Holi celebration when he smoked bhang, which made him think of many vivid thoughts. However, he stressed that relying on it could be harmful.
Shan emphasized that musicians should rely on their talent for creative inspiration like athletes and that they should not consume drugs or alcohol before performing.
The “Deewangi Deewangi” singer said, “Just as athletes are not allowed to compete if they take drugs, musicians should also avoid these substances. Perform on your own merit; avoid these things before the show.” Why take recourse?”
The renowned singer, who has given several chart-topping hits over the years, advised aspiring musicians to be mindful of substance abuse and highlighted the importance of self-awareness among artistes to make informed choices.
