Actor Daisy Edgar-Jones steps into Jane Austen’s world in first trailer for new adaptation sense and SensibilityWhich introduces the Dashwood sisters, their family’s changing fortunes, and the men who enter their lives.

The trailer for director Georgia Oakley’s upcoming film begins with Marianne, played by actor Esme Creed-Miles, running her hand through the grass, giving the film a pastoral feel that’s reminiscent of 2005. pride and prejudice. It establishes Marianne’s close relationship with her sister Elinor, played by Edgar-Jones, and the family’s difficult circumstances after their late father’s inheritance is lost to them due to their half-brother.

The cast also includes actor Caitrona Balfe as Mrs. Dashwood and actor Bodhi Rae Breathnach as youngest sister Margaret. Actress Fiona Shaw appears as Mrs. Jennings, who intends to help the girls find matches.

Actor George MacKay plays Edward Ferrers in the adaptation. In one scene, Elinor and Marianne look out the window to see if she is handsome before introducing herself in a Regency-era greatcoat. Shortly thereafter, the usually cautious Elinor admitted, “I respect him very much.”

Actor Frank Dillon appears as Mr. Willoughby, who rescues Marianne after she falls. Mrs. Dashwood says he saved her life, but he replies, “Not her life, good madam, only an ankle.”

Norwegian actor Herbert Nodrum plays the older and quieter Colonel Brandon, who is attracted to Marianne and her spirit. The trailer also hints at a confrontation between Brandon and Willoughby, in which Brandon says, “Come with me,” before grabbing Willoughby by the lapels and yelling, “Now!”

Edgar Jones, who plays the protagonist in the upcoming classic adaptation, previously starred in the romantic drama limited series, normal people (2020), based on the 2018 novel of the same name.

The 28-year-old also starred in the disaster film 2024 twistersWhich includes actors Glen Powell, Anthony Ramos, Brandon Perea, Maura Tierney and Sasha Lane.

Jane Austen’s classic romance, sense and SensibilityThere have been several screen adaptations, none more acclaimed than the 1995 film directed by Ang Lee. That Oscar-winning version also starred actor Kate Winslet alongside actress Emma Thompson, who starred in the play just before her breakout role in Titanic. In addition to acting, Thompson also wrote the film’s screenplay and earned his second Academy Award for the screenplay.

Oakley’s sense and Sensibility Will be released in theaters on 16 October. The film is co-produced by Focus Features, Working Title Films, November Pictures and Kido Films.
