Sebi Chief Bat for full announcement by its board members

MUMBAI: Securities and Exchange Board India for India (SEBI) will announce any conflict of the interests of its board members, to ensure transparency and trust in its work, his chief Tuhin Kanta Pandey said on Friday.

“I think trust and transparency extend to Sebi … we need to be more transparent, for example, on the conflict of the interests of the board … and we said in their first public speech before the people, on the struggle of the interest of the board … and we will come forward with our own plan.”

On March 1, Pandey took charge as the Sebi Chief instead of Madi Puri Butch, a career bureaucrat.

Buch, who has been led by Sebi for three years, was attacked by the now withdrawal of the Hindanburg Research and the Congress party after making serious allegations that his conflict of interest. Butch and SEBI rejected these claims to the TIME statements.

Pandey said that trust and transparency are crucial not only for regulatory bodies, but also for the functioning of SEBI. A transparent and responsible regulatory structure promotes confidence and clarity in the market.
