A seaplane carrying eight people crashed into New York City’s East River on Sunday, triggering a major emergency response, the New York Post reports.Video from the scene shows the plane floating in the river with one wing submerged as rescue teams rush to rescue passengers.According to the New York Post, the seaplane made a hard landing in shallow water shortly after 12 noon and partially overturned.All eight people on board were rescued by the New York City Fire Department (FDNY). Two passengers suffered minor injuries and were treated by emergency medical personnel at the scene, officials said.The crash occurred along 23rd Street and FDR Drive near the Manhattan Ferry and Skyport Terminal.Following the rescue operation, the crew straightened the aircraft in the water before towing it back to the dock. At least five boats were involved in the response, while another seaplane was seen nearby.Police have started investigating the cause of the accident.The incident comes less than a month after another seaplane had to be rescued from the East River after being hit by a wave during takeoff near the Throgs Neck Bridge, the New York Post reports.
