Samsung has finally set a date for complete unveiling of its much awaited Galaxy S25 Edge. According to a new report by South Korean publication, the device will be officially launched on 16 April. However, due to differences of time zone, the incident may occur in some areas on 15 April. The launch is expected only to be online-online, which marks the onset of the thinnest member of Samsung’s major Galaxy S25 series.
The Galaxy S25 Edge was first launched at Samsung’s unpacked event in January, where the company also introduced the rest of the Galaxy S25 family. While the details were rare at the time, the latest report highlights Samsung’s strategy. The company is allegedly aiming to defeat Apple in the super-split smartphone market. Apple has long been rumored to launch an ultra-slim iPhone 17 air in September, which is called thinner than the 6.4 mm frame of the S25 age. However, the iPhone 17 Air gets only a rear camera compared to the dual-camera setup on the S25 age.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is expected to hit the market in May, with color options including light blue, black and silver. Interestingly, Samsung’s initial production run is said to be limited to only 40,000 units – a surprisingly small number that questions the company’s trust in the success of the model. To keep it in perspective, it is less than 1 percent of Samsung’s monthly smartphone production.
In terms of specifications, the Galaxy S25 Edge is rumored to facilitate the 200-megapixel primary rear camera and 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens. This will be powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite Chipset and is expected to be the price between Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Ultra.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Age: Design, Build and Additional Details
Moving beyond the launch date, the recent leaks and reports have provided more insight into the designs of the Galaxy S25 edge and build. Some rumors have also suggested that the phone is also said to be thinner than already thought, causing just 5.84 mm thick and less than 162 grams. This makes it the thinnest and lightest Samsung phone in years.
The frame of the Galaxy S25 edge will reportly be made of aluminum, while the back panel is expected to facilitate ceramic instead of glass or plastic. Ceramic is known for its scratch resistance, although it is more brittle and heavy. Some reports suggest that Samsung may opt for a hybrid content, such as infecting glass with ceramic speckles to keep the device lighter.
The front design of the Galaxy S25 Edge is considered similar to the Galaxy S25+, with a similar screen size. However, it will vary at the back side, habitat only two cameras instead of the three found on the Galaxy S25+.
Under the hood, the Galaxy S25 Edge will allegedly pack Snapdragon 8 Elite Chipset, as has recently confirmed by a Gekbench listing. The device scored 2,806 in single-core and 8,416 in multi-core tests. It will also come with 12GB RAM and run Android 15 with a UI 7 of Samsung at the top. A potential concern is a relatively small 3,900 mAh battery of the device, which can struggle to handle powerful chipsets and slim design. Thermal throttleing can also be an issue due to limited internal space for heat wast.
