Actor Sonu Sood has revealed in an interview that he was supposed to feature in the lead role in the 2010 hit film Dabangg. The actor was speaking during the promotions of his latest film, Fateh, when he recalled his meeting with Dabangg director Abhinav Kashyap and mentioned how the role of Chulbul Pandey and the song Munni Badnaam were written for him, but Salman Khan Finally changed everything. minutes.

The 51-year-old told Shubhankar Mishra on his YouTube show that Kashyap had talked to him about making a cop film with a hero named Chulbul, and that’s when he came on board. Sonu told that later when the director offered him the role of a villain named Chedi Singh, he refused to play this character.

The actor said, “Abhinav Kashyap (director of Dabangg) was earlier Mani Ratnam’s assistant. He was a very good friend of mine. He told me that I am writing a police story called Chulbul, we will do it together. I am also excited. And told him we would do it.”

He shared that it was Salman’s brother Arbaaz Khan, who informed everyone that the superstar wanted to work in the film. Sonu recalled to Arbaaz how he had narrated the film to his brother and he liked it.

While the lead role went to Salman, the director continued to pursue Sonu for the negative role. The actor shared that after some time, he asked Kashyap to give some depth to the character and give him a special song.

“They asked me, ‘What’s the problem with this role, why aren’t you doing it?’ I told Abhinav that I will write it more for the next 2-3 days, if I understand it then I will do it and I want a song in the film Item Number. When Farah (Farah Khan, choreographer-filmmaker) was making the song, So I was talking to them about incorporating some steps and how it should be a hit.”

The actor, who is also known for his humanitarian work, called Munni Badnaam ‘my song’. Sonu highlighted that he was keen to do the popular dance number, but Salman decided to take over at the last moment.

He said, “Abhinav came with a good news and a bad news. Good news about a scene and bad news about Salman taking the song. I said, ‘This is my song, how will he come in between like this.’ Said he would do it through a raid scene. I told him it was wrong, I only had one song but ultimately, it happened well. People still remember this song.
