Rumors of Salman Khan facing legal trouble following a notice from the Bongo-speaking Mahasabha Foundation accusing The Great Indian Kapil Show of disrespecting the legacy of Nobel laureate Rabindra Nath Tagore and hurting cultural and religious sentiments. Meanwhile, speculations surfaced linking Salman Khan’s production house to the controversy. However, his representative quickly clarified that neither the actor nor his company is associated with the Netflix show.
Salman Khan’s representative, while addressing the legal notice of Bongo Bhashi Mahasabha Foundation (BBMF), has clarified that neither Salman Khan nor his production house, SKTV, is associated with The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix. The statement also confirms that SKTV is no longer involved in the running of the show and is unaffected by the legal notice.
Dr. Mandal, President of the Bongo Bhashi Mahasabha Foundation, through his legal counsel raised concerns about The Great Indian Kapil Show allegedly misrepresenting Rabindranath Tagore’s legacy and hurting cultural sentiments. The foundation sent a legal notice on 1 November, claiming that the show insults Tagore’s work. In response, Salman Khan’s BeingYou Studios and Parinam Law, representing comedian Kapil Sharma, rejected the allegations on 6 November.
He clarified that the show is a comedy series featuring fictional sketches, intended solely for entertainment, and is not intended to misrepresent any individual or community. He urged the foundation to withdraw the notice and warned of possible legal consequences if the case proceeded. Parinam Law also warned that any further legal action by the Foundation will be taken at their own risk, with BeingYou Studio prepared to vigorously defend its position, including any associated costs and consequences.
