Rohit Shetty’s Singham has become bigger again. The film starring Ajay Devgan in the lead role may get a big non-theatrical deal. At least that’s what the latest media reports say. The action-drama, which is the fifth film in Shetty’s cop-universe, has already earned a whopping Rs 200 crore before its release.
According to a report published in pinkvillaRohit Shetty and Jio Studios have sold the combined satellite, digital and music rights of Singham Again for Rs 200 crore. The report quoted a source close to the production as claiming that Rohit Shetty’s films are always favorites on TV and get huge repeat value.
The source was quoted as saying, “This is the biggest non-theatrical deal for Ajay Devgan and Rohit Shetty. While Rohit Shetty’s films have always fetched huge sums from satellite players due to tremendous demand from the audience, Singham Again Payment has been made.” Premium prices even by digital players. And why not? This film really has the biggest set-up for a feature film in the last few decades.”
Singham Again is touted to be the first film of the police-universe which will give a glimpse of all its ‘Avengers’. The film has been made on a large scale and Shetty has managed to pull off a coup in casting this time. Apart from Ajay and Kareena Kapoor Khan, it also stars Ranveer Singh, Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone and Tiger Shroff in the role of cops. Jackie Shroff and Arjun Kapoor will play the roles of villains, while Ashutosh Rana, Dayanand Shetty and Shweta Tiwari are expected to be seen in supporting roles. It will be released pan India by PVRInox Pictures.
This definitely gives the film an edge over Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. Both the films are clashing at the box office this Diwali. Directed by Anees Bazmee, the horror-comedy stars Kartik Aryan, Madhuri Dixit, Vidya Balan and Trupti Dimri in pivotal roles. Both the films will be released in theaters on November 1.
