Today, in a special conversation with India, Rohit talks about the new creative director of Bal, Fraz Tasnim, and the head of graphics and digital design, Ayaz ul Haq, to carry forward the legacy of the famous designer while carrying the label into a new era.

Kashmir, Rohit Bal’s motherland, came alive in New Delhi on July 28 as his label took a step forward after the late designer’s death, bringing a new chapter in Indian fashion history.

Lotus blooms, peacocks returned to their full plumage, and Kasheda embroidery burnt the black and ivory dress with hair – a true reflection of his design language that he retained over the years. But this time, the designer saw all this from the sky.

Kash-Gul, which was unveiled the first collection since his death, was presented by the team to carry forward their legacy. Appropriately, it was attracted to Kashmir – the eternal inspiration of hair – and its beautiful flowers (gul), which is taking the center stage in the ongoing Hyundai India Couture Week 2025, a fashion design council of India Initiative.

After the designer passed away in November 2024, a new era begins for Rohit hair label with its first collection showcase in India Couture Week 2025.

As their mainstays with voluntary skirts with Anarkalis, Bandgalas, Sherwanis, and Achkans – all cut their unmatched sharp stitching – took on the runway, taken on the runway, prepared with cute clothes of hair, such as wavet, masculine, and matka silk, one thing was clarified.

The label is now starred by Fraz Tasnim, who has been chosen by hair to carry out the legacy of the brand itself. Tasnim began to work with BAL in 2011, took an interval to carry forward an MBA and achieve the business of business, and eventually returned as a senior designer.

In a special conversation with India Today Digital, the designer shared his plans to labeled – which employs 400 people – alive.

“This is a responsibility to carry forward our legacy according to their style. We are trying our best to maintain it. It is aimed at keeping the soul (label) alive. According to the design language, we will continue it. We will continue it. We will add some new stuff, but the soul will be Rohit,” Tasnim said.

The death of Rohit Bal in November 2024 released the fashion fraternity in deep shock, making an incomplete zero. The designer was struggling with health issues for many years. His Monthi personality and enthusiastic approach to life continued to him – so much that a blind sick hair also used to thunder on stage during his last show, showing Ananya Pandey as a showstopper.

The OG is known as the socialite, is filled with life and humor, and is famous for throwing the most extraordinary parties, the hair created a strong and permanent friendship. As his label now takes a ‘step ahead’ without him, the fashion fraternity turned into full force. As he always used to do when he was still alive.

Meanwhile, his team left no stone unturned to keep a memorable show together. Ivory – Hair’s favorite color – set a tone for the evening, as the show was opened on a subtle note, with a Kashmiri song with a Kashmiri song with a model running under the ramp in his signature. The bright red rose felt the hair of the red rose model and felt that he has been creating a heartfelt node for BAL and for decades.

For a color palette of Ivory, Black and Burgundy adorned with Golden Zardozi and complex floral patterns rich in Velvetin Lehengas – I wish – Gul -Gul collection brought all the signature elements of Rohit hair together.

The show eventually took over a more Jovieal tone, as the grand black enclosure and hair signatures captured the runway, while live music turned into a foot-tapping concert.

Bal’s team planted friends of their trusted industry – Sumant Jaikrishnan of the scene, the show’s director Aparna Bahl Bedi, and photographer Gautam Kalra to come together and make an unforgettable night, with a new era began.

A new era begins for Rohit hair label, it is not just a cut-copy-paste of the past. Fresh design elements such as the houndstuth pattern and leather have been introduced subtle to develop the design language of the brand.

Ayaz -ul -Haq, who has been associated with BAL and their labels since 2005 and works closely with the design team, told India Today that the idea was to detect the new area while being right for BAL’s legacy.

“This is why we maintained familiar silhouette – Ivory, long jacket, flowing outfits,” said Haq.

It marks a rare moment in Indian fashion: a heritage brand is being carried forward by her hand successors. The team’s ambitious expansion plans are ahead, including Delhi’s High Street Dhan Mill and new store launch in Hyderabad, as well as upcoming exhibitions in Paris.
