Riteish Deshmukh condemns ‘twisted nonsense’ about King Shivaji
Actor Riteish Deshmukh on Sunday strongly criticized the distorted nonsense being said about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Actor Riteish Deshmukh on Sunday reacted strongly to what he called “perverted nonsense” about the legacy of Maratha king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Although Ritesh did not take anyone’s name, his ex-post comes in the wake of self-styled godman Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, also known as Bageshwar Baba’s recent comments about King Shivaji.
The actor’s reaction came when his film, Raja Shivaji, Preparing for a theatrical release on May 1. He has acted, directed and co-written the historical film.

What did Riteish Deshmukh post on X?
The 47-year-old actor wrote a powerful post in Marathi on Instagram without taking anyone’s name. The translation of his post reads, “When someone comes and spews some distorted nonsense about our beloved deity as a Shiva-lover and Shiva-devotee, it is unacceptable and infuriating. Such futile attempts to belittle the legacy will not be tolerated at all.”
The post further said, “But just as the Sahyadri mountain ranges have existed millions of years ago, similarly this one name will also exist millions of years in the future. And that name is of the Kshatriya dynasty, the Lord of the Throne, the Emperor of Emperors, Chhatrapati Maharaj (sic).”
What did Bageshwar Baba say?
Ritesh’s post came after comments made by Bageshwar Baba during the foundation stone laying ceremony of Bhardurga Shaktisthal in Nagpur.
Speaking at the event, Bageshwar Baba said, “Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was very tired of fighting wars; he felt exhausted. One day, he went to Ramdas Swami. He took off his crown and put it down and said, ‘I don’t want to fight wars anymore. You take care of this crown; you take over this kingdom. We will follow your orders. We can’t fight anymore; we are very tired and need rest. We don’t want to do anything for a few days. Are.”
