RGV: Dawood Ibrahim is shown wrongly in Dhurandhar 2, he is inactive by choice
Director Ram Gopal Varma questioned the portrayal of gangster Dawood Ibrahim in Dhurandhar 2. While praising the film, he suggested that Dawood might have turned away from crime years ago.

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma himself is a fan of Dhurandhar films, but he disagrees with the portrayal of Dawood Ibrahim in it. Dhurandhar: Revenge. Despite praising the work of director Aditya Dhar, he believes that the portrayal is not in line with his understanding of the current situation of gangsters.
In a discussion with writer Hussain Zaidi on his YouTube channel, Verma praised the film’s craft and storytelling, but expressed disagreement over the portrayal of Dawood Ibrahim. He said, “The only element I disagree with is that. I think the portrayal of Dawood Ibrahim…they may have their sources (but) I think it is being misrepresented.”

In Dhurandhar 2The gangster is known as ‘Bade Saheb’ and is depicted as carrying out terrorist operations from Pakistan into India. However, Varma suggested that this interpretation may not match his understanding.
He clarified that he does not claim to be an absolute authority on the subject, but feels that the story does not match his knowledge of David’s current condition. “Not that I can say it with authority. But it’s not consistent with my knowledge,” he explained.
Verma said that based on what he has heard, Dawood is largely inactive. He said, “He is inactive by choice, because he has stopped doing anything. I believe he retired from criminal activities 20 years ago.”
At the same time, he acknowledged the ambiguity surrounding such data, noting that no one can definitively confirm or deny the truth. “No one can be an expert, no one can know whether it’s true. We all think stalwart Something has been shown… I can’t refute it, and the director can’t prove it either,” he concluded.
