Retta Thala is about to start streaming on OTT platform Amazon Prime Video. The film will be available online from January 21, 2026. Earlier, there were speculations that the film would stream by the end of January, but it appears that the team has decided to advance the release by a week.

Retta Thala is the story of Kaali, a man from Pondicherry who lives dreaming of a better life. As he wishes to live a life full of money and respect, his girlfriend Entre believes that money is the ultimate driving force in life, inspiring Kali to constantly take risks and dream big.
On one fateful day, Kali unexpectedly encounters her look-alike Malpe Upendra. Since her doppelganger is a rich and powerful man, Kali sees an opportunity to take his place and escape poverty, with his girlfriend also seeing this as the perfect opportunity to turn her life around.
What follows is a story full of twists, action and emotional moments, which focuses on whether Kaali succeeds in taking Malpe’s place. Additionally, the film explores what Kali must sacrifice to satisfy his greed if he succeeds.

Arun Vijay plays a double role in Reta Thala. Apart from him, the film stars Siddhi Idnani, Tanya Ravichandran, Yogi Babu, John Vijay, Harish Perady, Balaji Murugadoss and many others in lead roles.
Written and directed by Chris Thirukumaran, the film’s music and background score is composed by Sam CS. Cinematography is handled by Tijo Tomy of Pallichattambi fame, while Antony serves as the editor.
Arun Vijay’s previous film
Before Retta Thala, Arun Vijay was seen playing the lead antagonist in Dhanush’s Idli Kadhai. Directed by Dhanush himself, the family drama tells the story of a man who returns to his roots after many years and takes over the eatery owned by his family.
Apart from Dhanush and Arun Vijay, the film stars Nithya Menen, Sathyaraj, Shalini Pandey and others in lead roles.
