Tamil movie Retro, playing the lead role in Suria, is ready for a solid start at the box office. The film has recorded unprecedented pre-booking, thanks to Surya’s director Karthik Subraj for discussion and publicity about the first cooperation.
Retro 7.75 crore prior sales for day 1 in Tamil Nadu
Bancollowed by Stone Bench Creations and 2D Entertainment, Retro grossed over Rs 7.75 crore for the initial day at the Tamil Nadu box office. The film has sold around 4.35 lakh tickets in about 2200 shows across the state.
Retro will also benefit from International Labor Day on its release, which is expected to promote its collection. This is the best advance booking for Surya’s career, crossing Kangwa. If all goes well, the biggest opening day for the film actor will give a watch.
Retro mania begins in neighboring states
Apart from Tamil Nadu, Retro has sold more than Rs 1 crore in both Kerala and Karnataka. Romantic action drama is expected to increase significantly in neighboring states.
The total advance booking of retro in all south states has exceeded Rs 10 crore. The film will be released in Hindi and Telugu versions besides its native language. It will be interesting to see how it rents outside its home torrent.
