Director Vignesh Raja’s Kara starring Dhanush and Mamita Baiju will hit the theaters in April. Producer Ishari K Ganesh made this announcement during an event.
Actor Dhanush’s upcoming action thriller kara has officially set its theatrical release date. The film will release in theaters worldwide on April 30, 2026, the makers announced on Saturday.
The release date was confirmed by producer Ishari K Ganesh during the University of Wales’ annual cultural festival Wales Nakshatra 2026. Addressing the audience, Ganesh talked about his long-standing association with Dhanush and his excitement for the project.

He said, “If I were to call anything my dream project, it would definitely be Vada Chennai 2 with Dhanush. Also, Dhanush’s upcoming film Kaara is scheduled for theatrical release on April 30.”
The makers have not yet made an official announcement regarding the release date.
karaDirected by Vignesh Raja, it is Dhanush’s 54th film as a lead actor. The title was unveiled earlier this year during Pongal with an attractive first-look poster, which featured Dhanush in an intense avatar. The poster had the tagline: ‘Sometimes, being dangerous is the only way to survive.’

Earlier announcing the film, Vignesh Raja described Kaara as an “emotionally rooted suspense thriller”, confirming that it would release in summer 2026. Director, known for investigative thrillers Por ThozilThe writer reunited with Alfred Prakash for the project.
Apart from the bow, kara It stars Mamita Baiju in the lead role along with actors like KS Ravikumar, Jayaram, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Karunas and Prithvi Pandiraj.
The technical team includes cinematographer Theni Eshwar, editor Srijit Sarang and National Award-winning composer GV Prakash Kumar.
