Redmi 15 5G Quick Review: Unapologetically Big!

Redmi 15 is unattainable, bold, and inexpensive sub-Rs 15,000 in the price segment, you can also say that the size is its USP. And the good thing is that Redmi has not made it big; They have also packed it with a lot of facilities. I have been using it for about two weeks, and while it is not a complete review, my first impressions are largely positive.

Redmi 15 5G Quick Review: Unapologetically Big!

In short

  • The highlight of Redmi 15 is its huge 7,000mAh silicone-carbon battery
  • Despite the massive battery, the phone is just 8.4 mm thick
  • It has a 144Hz refresh rate display of another first phone in its price section.

The title ‘unplacedly large’ is also not exaggeration. For a moment, if we forget about glasses and features, and partition between inexpensive and major phones, as a tool, Redmi 15 5G is just plain huge. I do not remember honestly that last time I kept this big phone. It may be that the Galaxy tab was hybrid from back in the nearest day-7 inch pills that doubled as the phone.

Generally, the largest phone in the mainstream market will be Galaxy S25 Ultra, but even it seems smaller in hand than this one. A major reason is a huge 6.9-inch display of Redmi 15 5G, which does not go for unusually long aspect ratio, but a broad 19.5: 9 is one. It feels broad in the palm alone.

So yes, Redmi 15 is unattainable, bold, and in the inexpensive sub-Rs 15,000 price segment, you can also say that the size is its USP. And the good thing is that Redmi has not made it big; They have also packed it with a lot of facilities. I have been using it for about two weeks, and while it is not a complete review, my first impressions are largely positive.

Redmi 15 5G: Quick Review

I think I have now said this enough bar – Redmi 15 is a big phone. The only real defect is its weight. At 217 grams, it can be tired for prolonged stretch.

But here is surprise: it comes with a large scale 7,000mAh silicone-carbon battery. It is about 2,000mAh more from Redmi 13, which was 8.3 mm thick. It is just 8.4 mm thick. There is a lot of growth of 0.1 mm for that type of battery jump. I will make the battery a little circle, as it is one of the main highlights here.

Design-wise, I have frosted white color variants, and the props to Redmi for this finish. It is a matte with a beautiful texture that holds the light beautifully. It does not smear like a glass back of Redmi 13, and honestly feels more premium in hand. The metal camera deco on the back also looks fast. If you are someone who likes big phones and can ignore ergonomics – because let’s face it, then anyone taking it really knows what they are getting – then you are for a cure.

The 6.9 -inch LCD display is also on a large scale than today’s standards. I usually use a 6.1-inch iPhone 16, so the difference seems huge. Most of my time with Redmi 15 has gone to watch Netflix and YouTube, and it has been a really pleasant experience.

One of the highlights is the 144hz refresh rate – the first in this segment. There is a weak link shine here. In 850 nits, it works well indoors, but struggles slightly out. To be fair, I did not have many bright sunshine days to test it because it is mostly rainy in NCR, so I will reserve more concrete decisions for complete review. He said, the lubrication of 144 Hz has been very good, and most apps I support it, which makes the experience even better.

On the software side, Redmi 15 runs Hyperos 2.0 above Android 15, with a two -year main OS update and a four -year security patch. It also comes with AI features like Gemini and Circle, which is impressive at this price point. Hyperos are considered heavy, but it performs surprisingly well here. Animation and infections are smooth, although under heavy multitasking, I noticed some hiccups. Nothing is prominent, especially given that it is a sub-RS 15,000 phone, but it is noticeable.

The performance is controlled by Snapdragon 6s Gen 3, which is combined with 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. It is a good, battery-skilled chip, and in day to day use, speed and accountability have been solid.

Now, back to the main star of the show – that 7,000mAh silicone carbon battery. Redmi has not just added much capacity; They have also used a silicon-carbon cell, something that we usually see in a high-end phone. This is the first phone in its value range to feature it, and endurance is yet outstanding. Again, more detailed testing is in the way, but early raids are excellent.

The cameras include a 50-megapixel dual rear setup and an 8-megapixel selfie shooter. Both front and rear cameras can record 1080p videos on 30fps. The initial results are decent for the price, but I will have more samples and insight throughout the review.

Everyone said, my early impressions of Redmi 15 5G are quite positive. Coming from a small phone user, it looks like a proper entertainment machine-a big screen in your hand with battery life for match. More to test, but whoever wants he wants to keep a really big phone without burning a hole in his pocket, it makes a strong case.

The price of Redmi 15 5G starts at Rs 14,999 for the base 6GB RAM + 128GB storage option. The price of 8GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB variants is Rs 15,999 and Rs 16,999 respectively. Stay to leave the entire review soon on India Today Tech.
