Ratna Pathak Shah criticizes party culture: I don’t want this infantilization
Ratna Pathak Shah has criticized the industry’s entry system, calling it a wasteful cycle that weakens actors. He warned that this “self-nurturing” system drives individuals away from their instincts and creates a financial bubble that will eventually burst due to a lack of accountability.
Actress Ratna Pathak Shah expressed her views about the mass entry system which has become an important part of the Hindi film industry today. Although he acknowledged the need for security and organization for young actors, the huge costs remained a concern.
In an interview with Shah pinkvillahighlighted that the crew has a massive impact on not only the producer, but also the actor and his attitude. The actor said, “As far as I can see, I think it’s a waste of time. But you can see it like it’s running a lot of houses. The crew gets paid. The producer keeps crying. And if the film doesn’t do, he cries even more. But he hopes his film will do Rs 1000 crore business this time, so he also keeps quiet.”
He said, “It’s a self-feeding system that we have created. Once it swells beyond a limit, that bubble will burst. I think we will have to wait till then because it seems like people don’t want to make individual decisions right now.” Be a kid again, that’s already happened,” he insisted.
Shah said, “But frankly, it’s not my job to change their mindset. That’s why I keep my mouth shut. And I’ve also learned this. And I’ve also learned how does it benefit anyone? Some people get it. Most don’t. Those who don’t, life will slowly and surely teach them. Why should I work so hard?”
The actor was last seen in the ZEE5 mystery comedy Detective Sherdil. The film stars Diljit Dosanjh, Diana Penty, Boman Irani, Chunky Pandey, Sumeet Vyas, Banita Sandhu, Kashmira Irani and others in lead roles.
