UK MP Rupert Lowe has read testimony from victims of the UK’s alleged grooming gang scandal, claiming that many survivors said race and religion played a role in the abuse they suffered.Speaking about the testimony, Lowe read from one victim’s account: “Consistent comments were made that suggested that white girls, Christian girls, were considered to have low morals or low values, while Muslim girls were described by some men as dignified and of high moral standing. These comparisons were used to justify the treatment I was subjected to and to further humiliate and control me.”Lowe later outlined his next steps following the publication, calling it an investigative report into a “rape ring”.In a post on The case is being prosecuted by private prosecution and civil litigation.”He also said, “The target list has been identified, and it’s growing. For obvious reasons, all of this has to be handled very carefully, but I am determined to take action. We’ve had enough of the talking, now we need to take action. Our objective is simple. Put people in jail. Get justice. Finally. We will act. Not talk.”Lowe also called for the deportation of criminals involved in grooming gang cases.“Our investigative report proves without a doubt that there is an undeniable link between religion and rape gangs. Islam. As a country, we finally need to find the courage to say so. The mass rape of vulnerable working-class white girls by gangs of predominantly Pakistani Muslim men is pure unbridled evil. Our report explains in detail what happened, why it happened and what we need to do to stop it happening again. This is an important day.”Reiterating his intention to take legal action, Lowe said he would use his position as an MP to push for accountability.“I intend to use my parliamentary privilege to reveal the names of the perpetrators and their supporters in the Chamber. This will be done incredibly carefully by our legal team every step of the way to ensure that no future prosecutions are jeopardized. We are co-operating with the authorities to help open and re-open cases, but my confidence in the system delivering justice independently is not high… That is why we are doing private prosecution and civil litigation. A target list has been identified, and is growing. For obvious reasons, this will all have to be done very carefully, but I am determined to take action. We have had enough talking, now we need to take action. Our goal is simple. Put people in jail. Get justice. Finally,” he posted on X.The abuse of vulnerable young girls by grooming gangs remains a serious concern in some parts of the UK, according to the report cited by Lowe, with the document alleging that such crimes continue to occur in many communities across the country.
