India’s Lakshya Sen suffered a tough defeat in the Paris Olympics men’s singles badminton bronze medal match. Actor Ranveer Singh has shown his support for the 22-year-old, who became the first Indian male shuttler to reach the semi-finals in Olympic men’s badminton.
Ranveer praised Lakshya’s efforts despite the loss and encouraged him to ‘fight another day’. Ranveer posted a photo of Lakshya on Instagram Stories, captioning it: “What a player! What endurance, what agility, what a range of shots, what focus, what patience, what intelligence. Amazing badminton performance!”
“It’s hard to describe how great he has been at the Olympics. He missed the games by a very small margin. But he is only 22 and he is just getting started,” the ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’ actor added.
He concluded, “Fight another day. Proud of you, Starboy. @sengoal.”
Lakshya competed against Lee Zii Jia for the bronze medal but lost with a score of 13–21, 21–16, 21–11.
Earlier, veteran shuttler Prakash Padukone, who is also Ranveer’s father-in-law, had criticised the performance of the Indian badminton team. Padukone got emotional and said that the players need to take more responsibility.
