Ranbir Kapoor confirmed that he has a double role in Ramayan. Read on to know his other roles besides Lord Ram. Part 1 of Nitesh Tiwari’s film is set to release on Diwali and the sequel is set to release next year.

Ranbir Kapoor confirms that he will play a dual role in Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming film Ramayana. He will be starring as Lord Rama and will also be seen briefly as Parashurama, the former incarnation of Lord Vishnu. This dual role was hinted at in the latest teaser but was not officially confirmed until now.

while talking to collider During the teaser launch event in Los Angeles, Ranbir Kapoor revealed how he played both the characters. He said that he used different body language and voice modulation to reflect the distinct nature of Ram and Parashuram. He said that understanding the spirituality and emotions of these incarnations was the key to his performance.

Ranbir shared, “Lord Vishnu had different incarnations. Lord Rama was an incarnation, and Lord Parashurama was an incarnation before Lord Rama. It was a great opportunity to play both the roles. I spent a year preparing for Ramayana to understand who these characters are, what their beliefs are and what their motives are.”

During the same interview, the actor also talked about the film’s high-octane sequences and said that they were “nothing less than Lord of the Rings” and that he shot “six hours of epic scenes”.

About this Ramayana

The teaser also depicts the encounter between Ram and Parashuram, which is part of the epic story. While returning to Ayodhya after marrying Sita, Ram meets Parashuram. According to legend, Parashurama challenged Rama to battle, but stopped when he learned that Rama was also an incarnation of Vishnu. The teaser features Ranbir Kapoor along with Ravi Dubey as Lakshman and Arun Govil as King Dasharatha.

Sai Pallavi will play the role of Goddess Sita in the film. Yash, known for his role in KGF, will play the character of Ravana. Sunny Deol and Ravi Dubey will play the roles of Hanuman and Lakshman respectively. Kajal Aggarwal and Rakul Preet Singh will be seen in the roles of Mandodari and Surpanakha. The cast also includes Arun Govil, Kunal Kapoor, Adinath Kothare, Sheeba Chaddha and Indira Krishnan.

Ramayana Part I Scheduled for theatrical release this Diwali. Continuing the epic iteration through this ambitious project, the second part of the film will be released on Diwali 2027.
