Ramayan producer promises Hollywood-like global exposure for Ranbir’s film
Producer Namit Malhotra has promised that his upcoming film Ramayan will be a global spectacle on par with Hollywood’s biggest achievements. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi in lead roles.
Producer Namita Malhotra shares insights about director Nitish Tiwari’s scale and approach Ramayana. Malhotra claimed that the upcoming epic-drama starring actors Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi has “everything that the biggest Hollywood dramas have.”
Malhotra, in an interview with ET Now Global Business Summit 2026, highlighted that Ramayan is set to compete with the world’s biggest cinematic achievements. He said, “For everyone in this audience, the Ramayana is the foundation of our culture, our stories, and our history. I have spent nearly two decades trying to gain a foothold in Hollywood. Unlike many other American industries, whether financial services, technology, or medicine, where Indians have achieved great success, we had no real presence in Hollywood. There was not much appreciation for our industry, our history, or our culture.”
“During that trip, it kept frustrating me that we were often seen through the prism of an emerging country. It bothered me a lot. I felt we needed to present something that showed who we really are, where we come from, and the richness of our culture and history in a way the world has never seen before,” the Ramayan producer added.
Malhotra asserted, “That’s why Ramayan is a perfect story to present with pride to the world. We have everything that the biggest Hollywood shows have to offer.”
He said, “We have built this film on a scale that is second to none in terms of budget, technical engagement and visual ambition. We are making one of the biggest independently financed films anywhere in the world in 2026.”
Ramayan is being co-produced by Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations in collaboration with eight-time Oscar-winning VFX studio DNEG – a collaboration that gives indication of the magnitude of the visual undertaking.
The film also stars Sai Pallavi, Yash, Sunny Deol, Ravi Dubey, Arun Govil, Lara Dutta, Vivek Oberoi, Rakul Preet Singh, Kajal Aggarwal and others in important roles.
Ramayan – Part 1 is set for global IMAX release in Diwali 2026, followed by Part 2 in Diwali 2027.
