Ramayan 2: Ranbir Kapoor starts shooting in Mumbai, Sunny Deol to join soon
Ramayan Part 2 is currently under production, Ranbir Kapoor has started shooting in Mumbai. The first installment, Ramayan: Part 1, is expected to release in theaters during Diwali 2026.

Ranbir Kapoor-Sai Pallavi’s Ramayana Definitely one of the most anticipated films of this year. This magnum opus directed by Nitish Tiwari, releasing on Diwali, has been divided into two parts. While the first installment is ready to release in theatres, India Today has learned that the shooting of the second installment has also started in Mumbai.
A source close to the film said that Ranbir has already started work on the second part, which will be based on the story of Sita after her kidnapping. Sunny Deol, who plays Lord Hanuman in the film, will also join the shooting over the weekend.

The source further added, “It’s almost a two-month schedule with some heavy-duty action and drama planned. The story will move towards Lord Ram’s journey to Lanka and the filmmakers have already built grand sets for it. There are also several scenes between Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman and both the actors will be filming them.”
Sunny Deol is currently shooting for Excel Entertainment’s next directed by AR Murugadoss, while Ranbir was working on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film. love and warWith Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. Apart from them, Ravi Dubey, who plays Laxman, and Yash, who plays Ravana, will also be a part of the schedule.
Ramayana: Part I First cut screened in Los Angeles 9 months before release
Earlier this week, a thick cut of Ramayana: Part I was screened to a select audience in Los Angeles, offering a glimpse of the much-awaited epic ahead of its scheduled Diwali release. The screening took place at the Cinemark Playa Vista Theatre, with attendees ranging from 18 to 60 years of age.
According to a report WeekInitial reactions from audiences have been very positive, with many praising the film’s scale, visual effects, and storytelling.
The version shown was only the first cut, intended for testing rather than final release. The film is expected to continue to be developed, with feedback from this screening guiding further edits.
Producer Namit Malhotra has reportedly invested around Rs 4,000 crore in the project, and intends to make it India’s biggest film. He has also promised to give the audience an international experience with the film being shot exclusively for IMAX.
