Ram Gopal Varma calls Ram Charan’s Game Changer box office numbers ‘fraud’
Ram Gopal Varma criticized the reported box office figures of Ram Charan’s film Game Changer, alleging fraud and questioning the credibility of the figures shared by the producers. He expressed concern over exaggerated claims potentially diluting the achievements of other successful South Indian films.

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma criticized the reported box office figures of Ram Charan’s latest film Game Changer. Varma expressed doubts about the film’s earnings, highlighting discrepancies between the figures claimed by the producers and those reported by trade analysts. He went on to express his concerns to X that the collections claimed by Game Changer’s team were misleading.
Varma questioned the credibility of the film’s reported earnings and expressed concern over the potential impact on the reputation of South Indian cinema. Referring to successful films like Baahubali, RRR and KGF 2, he said the alleged inaccuracies around the box office results of Game Changer could cast doubt on these achievements. While he exonerated producer Dil Raju of any wrongdoing, Varma wondered about the source of the alleged misinformation.
In the post, Varma wrote, “If @ssrajamouli and @SukumarWritings took Telugu cinema to stratospheric heights of fantasy in a real-time collection that created legitimate shockwaves in Bollywood, the people behind GC are here to prove it.” If successful, the South is much more spectacular.” Being a fraud, I really don’t know who is behind this extremely insulting insult of undermining the extraordinary achievements of the South thanks to Baahubali. , RRR, KGF 2, Kantara etc and all their achievements will now be in doubt because of the GC claims.”
He further added, “I don’t know who is behind this incredibly naive lie, but surely it can’t be producer Dil Raju because he is actually a down to earth realist and he is incapable of the fraud that is being perpetrated.” Has been.”
The makers of Game Changer claimed that the film earned Rs 186 crore on its opening day.10 January, it was ranked as one of the top openings for an Indian film. However, trade sources have reported significantly lower figures, with some estimating the worldwide collection to be less than Rs 100 crore.
Varma also questioned the film’s reported budget and compared it to the production costs of other high-profile films. He wrote, “If the cost of GC is around Rs 450 crore then the extraordinary visual appeal of RRR never seen before should have cost Rs 4500 crore and if the first day collection of GC film is Rs 186 crore, then the collection of Pushpa 2 should have been Rs 1,860 crore.” Should have been… The point is that the basic requirement of truth is that it should appear credible and in the context of GC, lies appear even more credible (sic).”
Directed by Shankar, Game Changer stars Ram Charan, Kiara Advani and SJ SuryaDespite a strong opening at the domestic box office, the political thriller’s performance declined, with domestic net collections not reaching Rs 100 crore even after four days of release.
