Ram Gopal Varma has made bold predictions about Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, calling it an “asteroid attack” that could change mainstream filmmaking in India.

Describing it as nothing less than an “asteroid attack”, Varma said that the film has the potential to redefine mainstream filmmaking and challenge the dominance of formula-driven pan-Indian spectacles.

He further added, “Those big budget masala projects whose shooting or post production has already started will find it a tough task to compete with the new standards.
Elaborating further on how this could impact the current formula-driven model of the film industry, Ram Gopal Varma warned that big-budget projects relying on tried-and-tested core elements may struggle if audience preferences change.
The filmmaker wrote, “Producers who stake entire empires on the same previous formulaic makings may face empty theaters and career-ending losses, as there are higher costs involved and audience tastes are converging to international standards.”
He further added, “Directors clinging to the belief that mass + VFX + scale + gravity-defying stunts = guaranteed hit will have no option but to reinvent themselves by studying the burgeoning audience.”

The note also reads, “Superstars who depended on their god-like status and relied solely on mindless hero worship will be exposed to highly effective characters who become heroes within the context of the story rather than being already revered as heroes.”
He wrote, “Dhurandhar 2 is not just another movie coming out on March 19. It could be an asteroid attack that could end the dinosaur era of filmmaking full of sheer volume, fake heroism and the so-called masala treatment.”
“The goal post has been changed and so if the direction of the kick does not change, it could lead to not only a broken leg but also loss of a limb,” he said.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar: Revenge the sequel is For the blockbuster of 2025 stalwart. The espionage thriller will delve deep into the background of Ranveer Singh’s character Hamza, as he completes his mission by taking down a criminal syndicate in Pakistan, leading to a high-level encounter with Arjun Rampal’s character. The film also stars Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun and R. Madhavan in lead roles.
