Rakshit Shetty celebrates 9 years of Kirik Party, shares emotional note: ‘The warmth about the film has still not diminished’

It’s been 9 years since the world first met the rowdy but lovable gang of Kirik Party, and the magic of the film hasn’t aged a day. Taking a moment to look back on the journey, actor Rakshit Shetty shared a heartfelt note thanking the fans who have kept the spirit of the film alive since 2016. On his X (formerly Twitter) account, he expressed his feelings by writing, "Years later, the heat surrounding Kirik Party has still not subsided. What really keeps it alive is the audience’s love for the film. Grateful for that affection, always celebrating 9 beautiful years of Kirik Party."

Take a look at his post:

Directed by visionary Rishabh Shetty and produced under Paramvah Studios, Kirik Party was more than just a film – it was a cultural moment. Thanks to the script written by Rakshit and his creative team, The Seven Odds, it perfectly portrayed the chaotic, vibrant and emotional ups and downs of college life. The film also served as a launching pad for Rashmika Mandanna and Sanyukta Hegde, who brought a rare authenticity to the screen, along with a talented ensemble cast including Achyuth Kumar and Aravind Iyer.

When it first hit theaters on December 30, 2016, no one could have predicted how big it would become. It not only earned Rs. It devastated the box office by earning more than Rs. 50 crores; It remained in multiplexes for an incredible 365 days and became one of the highest-grossing Kannada films of all time. The industry also took notice and showered the film with accolades, including the Karnataka State Film Award for Best Family Entertainer, five South Filmfare Awards and an astonishing seven SIIMA Awards. Its popularity also crossed borders, inspiring the 2018 Telugu remake, Kirka Party.

Even after almost a decade, Kirik Party remains a major hub for those who want to relive their college days. Between the timeless soundtrack and the undeniable chemistry of the cast, it has earned its place as a modern classic in Kannada cinema. Like Rakshit Shetty’s tribute, even though years have passed, the bond between this film and its audience still remains.
