Rajpal Yadav has paid Rs 2.5 crore out of Rs 11 crore: Lawyer in check-bounce case
Delhi High Court has postponed the bail hearing of Rajpal Yadav in the long-running check bounce case till February 16. The actor’s lawyer said that he has repaid some part of his loan.

The Delhi High Court has postponed the bail plea of actor Rajpal Yadav till February 16 in the ongoing check bounce case. His lawyer informed the court that Rajpal has already paid Rs 2.5 crore towards the disputed amount and is ready to deposit additional amount.
After the hearing, Rajpal’s lawyer Bhaskar Upadhyay addressed the media outside the court and shared information about the case. He said the actor has already repaid part of the loan, Rs 2.5 crore of the Rs 5 crore loan, which increased to Rs 11 crore over time. Upadhyay stressed that imprisonment in such cases should not be based on mere undertakings.
The actor’s lawyer said, “Nobody should be put in jail merely on the basis of an undertaking. We told the court that if it is purely a financial matter, we will meet him in jail and take instructions. Today we tried to talk to him in jail, but it was not possible. We will meet him personally to understand the court’s stand regarding the undertaking given earlier. If we pay the money, the case will not be argued on merits and consider it as a compromise Will go.”

The lawyer further said, “There was a consent decree of Rs. 5 crore, which was subsequently executed. At one stage, the opposite party refused to accept the payment, as recorded in the order sheet. They later rejected the plea and sought imprisonment while the case continued. Three months’ imprisonment was imposed to satisfy the decree. The entire process pertains to proceedings prior to 2012.”
Finally, he said, “The original Rs 5 crore became Rs 11 crore. So far, we have paid Rs 2.5 crore in this case. About Rs 1 crore was deposited in the registry earlier, and we also brought a check of Rs 25 lakh today. Whatever assistance we are getting, we are ready to submit it to the court. There is no major issue on that front. The only question now is what the court decides on Monday.”
